The “Scholarship Project for Employees of the Protestant Council of Rwanda ” is designed to strengthen the capacity of staff of member churches. Activities to organize experience exchange workshops for the scholarship recipients have been planned to strengthen the achievement of impacts.
This was organized over three successive days from 13-15/10/2021. The workshop took place at the center of the Bible Reading League in Rwanda. Two days, from October 13 and 15, 2021, were reserved for presentations and exchanges of experiences in the LLBR reception center. October 14, 2021, was occupied by a study tour focused mainly on the Nyanza district.
Two ways of organizing activities:
- Presentations at the center of the workshop
- An organization of study trips to the parishes of the Churches and/or their organizations
In the Presentations, Monsignor (retired) Augustin Mvunabandi inspired the participants in the areas or ministries in which the Churches must begin development.
- These are:
- Ministry of Leadership
- » » of evangelization
- » » of the growth of Christians and the Church
- » » of the word of God
- » » of prayer
- » » of the social life of Christians
- » » skills development
- » » counseling
Reverend Julie Kandema demonstrated to the participants the role of women in their churches for sustainable and integrated development.
The Protestant Council of Rwanda (CPR) brings together Protestant churches. The Secretary General of the CPR explained in detail the history and creation of the CPR by the churches and the role it continues to play in the development and achievements of its members.
For a full day, the participants traveled from Kigali to Nyanza in a specially prepared bus. The visit allowed the scholarship recipients to learn about the performance of their colleague, Pastor Jérôme Sindikubwabo, head of the Anglican parish of Nyanza. In the same parish, participants learned about the importance of vocational training opportunities for young people and how to manage them. After the visit, at a local church in Nyanza (ADEPR), participants discussed the opportunities available on site for possible development activities.
The participants were very pleased with this field trip. They saw it with their own eyes and interacted with their colleague. They listened to the testimonies of the leader and his colleagues at the parish: youth, Fathers’ Union, Mothers’ Union, and other groups. They visited a church under construction where work has been progressing very quickly since our scholarship holder has been assigned there for two years. They visited his eucalyptus plantation of more than 4 hectares. They followed the various short-term and long-term plans of the Church and the strategies implemented.
