Historical Background of Radio Inkoramutima

Many years before the Genocide against Tutsi in 1994, the idea of putting in place CPR Radio has been coming again and again in discussions in CPR structural organ meetings but was not put into practice. The Ministry of Evangelism through a Radio Communication Tool was judged relevant in order to spread the Gospel to a big number of people in the country, in the region and the worldwide.

At the beginning, CPR hired an air space on the National Radio Rwanda and started broadcasting messages related to Evangelization for 30 minutes once. In that context, CPR constructed a small studio at his Head Offices-Kicukiro. The studio was used by CPR Communication and Evangelization Department to prepare and edit the Evangelization Programmes before they are taken and broadcasted at Radio Rwanda at that particular time. At the period of time the Protestant Sunday services were directly aired live by Radio Rwanda through two technical studios, one located at Saint Etienne cathedral of the Anglican Church of Rwanda(Diocese of Kigali) and the second located at Kiyovu Perish of the Presbyterian Church .

In the year 2012, the CPR General Secretary   in collaboration with the CPR Technical Staff team of Mission and Church Mobilization Department with the support of technicians in the Radio setting conducted a study to put in place the Radio Inkoramutima.

In the same year, on 27th of December 2012 the dream of many years which used to be in the minutes of CPR organ meetings became a reality and Radio Inkoramutima was born at that date.
