SUMMARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIONS AND EVANGELISM
History and Background
Since its inception, CPR has set itself the goal of working together and being one among its members. Its goal is: That all may be one.” CPR has established various departments including the Department of Media and Evangelism.
In this sector, one cannot separate the media service from the evangelistic service because media such as Radio has emerged as a useful tool aimed at spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, although the media has also focused on other activities including: Justice, peace, Unity and reconciliation of Rwandans, social well-being and holistic development.
In the field of evangelism, evangelistic programs were launched on Radio Rwanda, and a program of Sunday services was added that was broadcast on Radio Rwanda through the “technical booths” located at EAR/Cathedral Sainte-Etienne in Biryogo and EPR-Kiyovu. The joint evangelistic program of the CPR member churches continued, including the preparation of joint evangelistic meetings, the preparation of retreats for the Speakers of the CPR Churches to reflect together on the importance of the unity of the churches and what can promote them.
Missiion of Evangelism and Communication Department
To promote unity among the CPR member churches, joint committees have been established at local levels in various districts of the country. In this line of unity, CPR and its member churches have been collaborating with others to organize the annual Christian Unity Week.
Vision of Evangelism and Communication Department
This department also focuses on combating heretical teachings that undermine Christian values and Rwandan culture.
This department has been organizing activities to release songs on cassettes using the CPR studio that had built a hut where it worked, organizing choir competitions, and organizing training for Church Leaders, Pastors, youth, women and the general public.
What We Do
This department also includes work related to Protocol, legal advice, CPR’s interaction with government agencies, the private sector and CSOs as well as CPR’s human resources (HR) management.
As can be seen, Evangelism and Media on CPR’s Radio Inkoramutima are two major complementary activities that are housed in the same CPR department.
